THe signals from the phone interfere with the planes navigating tools or something but it basically screws the planes systems. Unlike a car where there arent any type of special systms.

I'm sure that you can not during take off/landing though.

No you cant. THe signal messes with the planes systems. I wouldn't do it even if you can hide it just because its a saftey hazard. Someone mentioned before there is airplane modee and that allows you to use your ipod, iphone, phone, etc, without being connected to any wi-fi or any signal. I hope you have a safe flight.

No, but you can put it on "Airplane Mode"

There is most likely a sign above that says if you can it or not, they only let you during certain times

Mostly because it jams their radio that's why we have airplane mode
