kief wrote This may be different, but could you help me pick out a set of speakers?

I've started using turntables, and the speakers I have aren't that great, and i'm getting tired of having to wear my headphones for 6+ hours a day. These speakers aren't going to be used for huge shows. Just mainly for listening to my beats and house parties. If it matters, the max I'll be doing is 75 people if that matters, so the speakers need to be able to get LOUD if I need them to be. I mainly mix EDM and house music if that matters.

Also, since you selected my parts for my pc (thanks by the way the build is amazing) do you think that I should get a sound card for this?

EDIT: Price range for speakers is 200 max, and I don't know about the sound card, just give me a few options.

Do you have an amp or receiver or something? You can get some FANTASTIC vintage speakers for cheap.

If you want THE party speaker, Cerwin Vega is one of my favorite brands. The D9 or AT10/AT12 series tend to be the best in your price range.

Just looked these up, and the wood doesn't quite appeal to me. I would liek them to be black and red to go with the color of my laptop and turntable.

You could get a modern Cerwin Vega since they're black with red drivers, but they suck in comparison to the vintage stuff. And you kind of need an amp to produce sound... Check Craigslist for the speakers and amp.

Alright, do you think I could get away with taking apart the speaker box and painting the wood black?

Yes. Make sure you do it right, though, there's definitely a wrong way to paint wood. If you're dad's anything like my dad or most of the dads I know, he'll know exactly what to do.

Ok, and I'm more than certain I can paint wood, I just wanted to know if they are possible to re-assemble.

Ack no don't do that! It's possible, but you have the very real possibility to ruin the sound by not putting them together perfectly.

My turn to ask. My friend wants headphones for college. She's upgrading from the HD595 and wants a closed headphone that's transportable. The challenge is the combination of genres (Indie and classical, mostly) and her budget of $400. I already recommended she check out the T70 and Z1000, but I didn't like the Z1000 for classical because of it's laidback warmness, and I haven't heard the T70. Am I missing any? The HM5 would be too large and most other things would be a downgrade. I recommended against the DT1350 and Amperior as well. Is there anything I forgot that has a brightish sound signature that's not bassy? The latter rules out Ultrasone and V-Moda. AT's A series is ridiculously large, and yeah I think I've exhausted her options. I have a feeling she wouldn't love the Fostex mods either. She's a hard one. I wanted to stay away from recommending the T70, but it may be her only option.

I currently have Beats Pros and yes I know I shouldnt have gotten them. With that being said I really want a pair of headphones thats amazing and Im willing to spend about $400. Also I didnt know if I was to use the form so Im just going to do both. I really want over ear headphones that are relativley portable and have amazing quality. I like the pros quality I just dont think they are worth the price you pay. If you can help me out root beer I will appreciate it.

Budget:
$450
Music preference:
Hipop and Rap
Type / form factor and portability:
Over ear unless there are amazing in ear headphones. Relativley portable
Open/Closed (Not for in-ear):
Not sure what this is :/

You can get the Ultrasonic PRO900 (ideally with an amp; you have the money left over to get a nice CMoy from JDSLabs or a Fiio E11) or the newcomer none of us here have tried if you want to be adventurous:Denon D400 (it'll for sure be an upgrade, but we don't know how much of one).

I don't need help buying headphones I just need some advice on my current ones if you don't mind.

I have a cheap pair of in-ear sennheiser MM30i that I picked about a month ago. They are good quality for a cheap price put they're currently falling out of my ear, I changed the buds to bigger ones that came with the headphones but they still fall out. So I was wondering do I need new headphones or is there something I can add like new buds or some cushion that will hold them in?

Thanks for reading

Ishcabible, by paint them I didn't mean take them apart and I should have specified. Access to a computer will be inconsistent today, so I hope I'll be able to update this topic for its first birthday today!
