I actually just got a mechanical keyboard today for my birthday. I got the Razer black widow ultimate. Words cannot express how satisfied i am with this keyboard. There are 5 macros on it, has anti ghosting, gaming mode, and more features. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging of what it has, just letting you know about it. I've read reviews and people say it's the best mechanical keyboard they have heard of, but that just might depend on the money you want to spend on it. This one i got for $159 with a 2 year warranty.

Also, if you don't need a lot of the extra features, you can get the standard razer keyboard, which is still fantastic. Also, the standard is around 80 dollars i believe.

Depends on what you require from a board. Razer is out of the question if you're gaming because of their stupid decision to use Cherry MX Blues, which is a dead-up typing switch.

The best way to evaluate what board you need is for you to answer these questions:

1. What's your budget? You don't have to pay a lot for a nice board!

2. What percentage of your usage will you be gaming and what percentage will be typing? For me it's about 30% gaming and 70% typing, for example. This'll determine what switch type is best for you.

3. Do you use the number pad? Is there a particular layour you would prefer? I strongly advise against macro keys unless you absolutely need them.

4. Backlighting? If you do want it, it will significantly increase what you can expect to pay and limit your options big time.

5. Anything else I should know? Do you play FPS and/or MMO games?
