You can dual screen with another graphics card (on one computer) I think but just wait for someone to correct me.

If your GPU supports it, then yes you can run dual monitors. All you need is two separate VGA cables/HDMI cables and hook those bad boys up. All you have to do now is go into your settings and fix everything up, as in what you want the second monitor to do.

Just make sure your GPU can run two (most mid-range ones have two VGA outputs, or two HDMI outputs).

There are splitters for that.

Yes but (correct me if i'm wrong), with a splitter all you can do is duplicate the screen, as in the 2nd monitor would just look like the 1st one. OP said he wants his monitors to do different things.

Did you want to run separate programs on each screen as in web browsers and programs.. if so then yes you can run a single GPU as long as it supports dual monitor support. right now I am running 2 on a MSI GTX 560Ti hawk card. one is hooked up Hdmi other is DVI. most newer cards will do this with no issue

All you have to have is a dual link dvi cable. It's going to be the DVI cable with a sort of plus sign at one end, and has two dvi links coming off of it.

You need a gpu that can support it although you could use splitters but there not as good.

And make sure you have a powerful enough gpu because on a multi display setup the frame rate will be lower.
