My birthday is coming up and I might be building a computer. I want it to be very fast and have an SSD. Could someone list all of the parts (not specific, just like "processor, motherboard, etc.") that you would need to build one? I am talking about EVERYTHING you would need. Thanks in advance! Also, how do SSD's work? Do they act as hard drives, or a separate component of the computer?

In a way, yes.

It uses flash memory instead of a mechanical drive with a head.

They are far more reliable.

They are a lot faster.

They are smaller.

They are used for boot drives so you can load your O/S and applications almost instantly.

There is a lot more to it like flash, controllers, synthetic benchmarks, etc.

A 64 SSD alone is $60. :|

You can use the computer without a HDD but it's not worth it, just get a SSD that can support your program files and OS to boot and HDD for files.

do a 256GB SSD and 1TB hardrive its like $200 for SSD and $100 for HDD
