you can install single player mods, yeah. my account isnt premium and i have TooManyItems. i dont have a vid so heres some steps:
1) Install the mod and you should have a .zip file.
2) hit start then search "%appdata&
3) open .minecraft, then open bin, then open the minecraft.jar with winrar/7zip
4)copy all the class files from the the mod u downloaded.
5) paste them all into the .jar in winrar
6) remove META-INF

then you should be good to go. go onto singler player and you should have ur mod hope i helped.
