Lol, I have an i7 now, I'm on my laptop. I sold my desktop that had the FX. idgaf about buying it, it fit my budget and I needed the threading for running certain CAD programs on multi monitors, along side running Open GL dev. I'm done with the project that I was working on, and I have a much larger budget now that I'm done with it. I have a new desktop on it's way.

Just because you "have an i7" does not imply that you've learnt anything.

I was saying I don't care that I bought an FX. Hell I did it on purpose to help with what I was working on. And because of the project, Open GL might end up being used more because of it. The whole Open GL and Open CL projects are now focus on maximizing the potential of AMD processors. Because the fact is, the FX and A series are ahead of it's time. And are the way of the future. More the APU than the FX, FX might just end up flopping and dying, but definitely the APU. A lot of people are pushing for a more powerful APU in the world of Open GL coders because there has been great success with them. I chose the FX because I wanted to play games aside from Open GL in my down time.


EDIT: And it's focused on OS X as well. Almost forgot that part.


anyways OP, I think I've more than proved that FX has it's ups and downs. In the end, it's your decision.

An i7 is complete crap if you are not doing HEAVY rendering, an i5 2500k or i5 3580k is more than enough for Heavy Gaming/Normal Editing.

You could have bought a better graphics card with those $110 you wasted there, and it would actually be a difference in you gaming performance.

I'm not a guy that types a wall text to prove someone is stupid. Plain and simple, if you recommend an FX processor then that makes you immediately stupid.


PS: Stupid game montages is not considered Heavy Rendering.

Why is 64GB not enough? It's only for the boot drive and his other most frequently used programs. But you're right about the CPU, I forgot it was dual core. He can drop the SSD if he wants and get a 2500k.
