BO2 wrote Just think on this the Mayans calendar runs out on December 21,2012. What if the Mayans had "spoken" to the Aliens and on December 21,2012 the Aliens will re-invent us. Remember Earth is 4+ Billion years old who's to say there wasn't life before the Dinosaur and were those "people" as intelligent as us. Aliens could have wiped them out. Who's to say there not going to do it again?

Based on what Theology has stated before, the calendar has actually ended 12 times already. December 21, is just the next date that it ends and will restart. Maybe when he gets back on he will explain in detail. I don't think anything will happen that day. If anything special happens, it will be a coincidence. Multiple people, including a world renown psychic, said an alien craft will crash near the end of this year in Nevada. Let's see if that comes true.

Nothing special will happen on December 21st other than the aligning of the planets. There is no evidence to say anything bad will happen because of this considering the Earth has been around for 4 billion years, I would say that it's happened before and nothing terrible has happened.

The Mayan calender is based on sequences of years.
You have to start from the first date in the Mayan calender then add the number of years required to reach the Baktun you want.
In this case, when you reach the 14th Baktun you will always get December 21, 2012.
Much like if you wanted the 13th Baktun you would get September 18, 1618.

And plus the Mayans would not have known of leap years do surely this date has already passed

I hate to sound like a stuck record, but leap years have nothing to do with the Mayan calender.

These 'visits' could be the basis of all religions. Faith in god was stronger hundreds/thousands of years ago, faith in these things is becoming weaker, so maybe we are due another visit? D:
