Well as the opening ceremony comes closer, it is nearly time for the Paralympics games to commence. Therefore, I thought I would make a post giving the updates for medals + medal table from the games.

History :

The Paralympic Games had their humble beginnings just over fifty years ago, in Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Aylesbury, England. The earliest beginnings of the creation of athletic Games for people with disabilities can be traced back to World War II and the efforts of a doctor from England named Ludwig Guttmann. Known as
the Father of Sport for People with Disabilities, Dr. Guttmann was a strong advocate of using sports therapy to enhance the quality of life for people who were injured or wounded during World War II.

The first Paralympic Games were held in Rome, Italy, in 1960 and involved 400 athletes from 23 countries. Originally, only wheelchair athletes were invited to compete. Since that time, the Paralympic Games have grown dramatically. The present-day Paralympic Games include five major classifications of athletes: persons with visual impairments, persons with physical disabilities, amputee athletes, people with cerebral palsy and people with spinal cord injuries.

So what do you think of the Paralympic games? Do you think it will be the best in the history of the games?

For those that really care I think they will be watching the opening ceremony rather than discussing it on a gaming site

Personally I think that they should be more important than the Olympics because they are true heroes and they need more attention than the ordinary athletes and it is to underrated!

This event should have been hosted closer to the regular Summer Olympics. More people should care about the Paralympics, but they don't. It's quite sad, but you can't really do anything about that. I didn't even know that the Paralympics were coming up until now, they should have done better advertising like they did for the regular Summer Olympics.

Agreed the paralympians are more of a hero compared to the olympians. They have been born/have encountered an injury which means they can not do what other people do. This should be a higher advertised games.

Hopefully, these olympians will be able to join in with the actual olympics.
