It's not a war, it's just people not understanding the ultrabook market and being biased.

Biased or not, an opinion is an opinion
In my Opinion, he over payed, in your opinion he didn't, that's all that needs to be said.

Actually I think he did. Not for this machine in its market, but for an ultrabook period. The best for your money is a Thinkpad T430 all things considered. I would never buy an ultrabook at their current state.

I'm fed up of the hate for Mac users. It seems all these people don't realise that you have the ability to run OS X, so take that into account next time.
Although I favour the notebook range and probably wouldn't buy an iMac or Mac Pro simply because yes, I could build a rig that would be a lot cheaper.
Apple's notebooks though have plenty of features that others don't. Mainly the little things like Magsafe and the battery indicator.

The base MBA is the only good product that Apple has released that is even worth considering..
The non rMBP, 21.5'' iMac, Mac Pro, and the Mac Mini are simply just crap for the amount that you're paying.
Again, if you put the MBA side by side against a Ultrabook in the same price range, the specifications would be almost identical but the MBA has no bloatware, no cheesy stickers, a superior trackpad that works well on OSX, OSX, and a superior warranty / RMA system due to them actually having stores.
I hate Apple but saying the MBA is bad is just pure ignorance.

jamiemackay wroter00t_b33r wrote I'd like the haters to tell me exactly how they can fault this purchase. The 13" Air is one of the only Apple products that are competitive in their markets. If you objectively take a look at the ultra(buzzword)book market right now, you'd see how great the Air really is. Personally I can't justify any ultrabook yet and they don't fit my needs or budget, but that is beside the point. OSX is, in my eyes and from my experience, the best OS for ultraportable laptops. Oh yeah, and it's real Unix.
Expect a lot of jealousy and denial, OP. It's fantastic.
Well For starters he spent at least, 1000 GBP, you could get a Laptop, just as good if not better for 750 or lower, Over-spent simple as..
he paid 1000 pounds for an Apple Logo.
But maybe its something that he/she actually wanted and that he/she likes the OS better, it was his/her personal decision, just let it be.
