id start of by having a look through this website [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] there is tons of helpful stuff on there.. start picking up all the basic skills and get comfortable with all of the tools and what not. Youtube is also a good place to find tutorials and stuff.

i also find that looking at other peoples work and trying to re-create it is a good thing to do, thats how i learned alot when doing graphics.
