i have just brought an iphone 3gs and i was just wondering if there was any way i can unlock it to any network without taking it into a shop or jail breaking it?

You have to Jailbreak it then download UltraSn0w (There's another one but I can't think of the name)
Then you'll be able to Unlock It!

Its easy, just put it into recovery mode. Then restore it on iTunes

this didnt work it still says invalid sim when i do this!

when i do this, if i unjailbreak it after i have unlocked it, will it still be unlocked?

I believe you have to keep the jailbreak on in order to keep it unlocked!
