Dude, the lag in WAW was worse then it is here. The only reason people are frustrated with MW2 is because the weapons take about 1/2 the time to kill as they did nin WAW. This difference in kill time leaves less room for error when playing with a bad connection.

When knifing, whoever has the better connection wins.

This happened in Gears of War with having Host Shotgun so idk might transfer to all games i guess?
