The V-Moda LP sounds about right. I'd recommend the Creative Aurvana Live, but it's not very durable or portable. For an IEM, the Xeport 5010 and Shure SE215 are good options.

so i've been researching headphones independently for a while now and have pretty much narrowed it down to two main contenders:
the sennheiser hd 25-1 ii and AiAiAi's TMA-1.

I already own numerous pairs of higher end in ear and over ear headphones, however none of them possess the portability factor i need for bussing to school/flying/just every day walking.

i landed on these two 'phones because both of them are said to be extremely durable, which i need because i plan to be rough with these headphones, shove them in my bag, etc., and also both look pretty stylish (i am a stylin' young lad and the aesthetics concern me greatly), and finally because both are carried at local retailers where i can at least try them out and then order online at a later date.

has anyone here had any experiences with either of them?

No need to apologise. No harm done. The HD25 Adidas might work for you, they occasionally go on sale for $200 at some places. The Adidas HD25 has a L plug, which works well with portable devices. I have no experience with the TMA-1 though, I guess r00t_b33r can help you with that.

I can't comment on the TMA-1 sound as I have not tried anything it competes with, but my self-diagnosed OCD is incompatible with the finish. The removable cable is nice, but I strongly regret not getting the V-Moda M80. Definitely try them before you try to make any judgements! It's nice to have the opportunity and I've always wanted to try the HD 25.

Shure SE215. Warm signature, good for EDM type genres too.

i actually just like the plain black HD 25's haha,
i really hope the sennheisers sound as amazing as they look, but i wouldn't be unhappy with the TMA's either.

and i can personally recommend the SE215's, own 'em and love 'em

The HD25 is something I did like a lot. The DJ at my local club wears them too. It sounds perfectly fine on my iPod despite being 70ohms. The HD25 is one of the better built Sennheisers. The bass for me extends deep, and the highs don't get too loud. However I haven't heard the HD25 for a while, so my impression is not perfect.
