Mainstream science doesn't prove everything. It can attempt to, but not everything. There are so many unanswered questions, that science cant explain.

That means that if we would live by the mayan calendar we would have died somewhere in 2011.

This is assuming the Mayans used the gregorian measure of time, which they did not. Their measure of time was not like ours with seconds, minutes and hours. Theirs was more geometrically based. Which is why the Mayan measurement for a solar year was 360 days (360 degrees in a circle) which signified the earth made a rotation around the sun. When the calender was deciphered, it was done using the Mayans method and then a date was concluded based on our gregorian calender. Not the other way around.

Also, there is no talk of the end of the world anywhere in the codex. The long count calender just restarts every 5125 years. Now what happens at the end of 5125 years is yet to be known.
