I'll help after this Saturday! Once my final ACT is done, I'll be able to do...things in general. Well, for a week. Then I need to teach myself chemistry from scratch for the SAT Subject Test.
Might need the help. There's a lot of content that can be added and right now it looks painfully rookie, haha!

I'll be looking for something to do, I think, so I'll be up for it Saturday night/Sunday afternoon.
In a twist of events, I'm defending Beats Pros on Head-Fi. These people are judging how they sound based off a kiosk. If someone did that with any other headphone (well, any "accepted" headphone), they'd be flamed to death. I honestly don't think they're that bad subjectively once you amp them, and if you only have to pay like $150 for them. What people don't realize is that they're only 18ohms and basically need an amp to find its full potential. I mean, with a CMoy, I'd take them over an HFI780. They're not "good" at all, especially objectively, since they sound like everything's been hyped up, but they're the most fun headphones I've ever used. I only like to slam them when other people try to buy them for anything more than 50% of MSRP. After that, I don't really have any qualms.

It's just hard to recommend headphones that are only worth it if you can find them for such a price. Partly because you can't rely on them to be that price and partly because you can get other headphones heavily discounted as well. And realistically, I can't imagine 95% of people (not necessarily audiophiles) being willing to use an amp in their setup. But yeah, by the same token, I've sold two Macbook Airs this month. Crazy, huh?

You're not defending it, though. You're trying to poke holes in an argument without any facts. Our facts are that multiple driver full-size headphones are inferior to single driver ones. IEMs are a different story, of course, but that's hardly comparable.

That's the paradox of them. They only sound good when amped, but 1%, if that, would use them. I do remember the Monster outlet store used to sell refurbs for pretty cheap, but yeah, it's a shame. I do want a popular headphone to simultaneously sound good, and hopefully that'll happen soon.

Mostly because balanced armatures respond to that better than dynamic drivers, but the dual driver dynamics are either a coaxial design or some other hooery that requires more than arbitrary placement.
