I'm building my PC soon and wanted to know if this is good enough to handle games around medium settings

Get an EVGA GTX 670 FTW, i have it. It is amazing! Never over heats.

There's no reason not to go with AMD if it's the best option at a given price point. It's ridiculous to prefer one to the other.
There's nothing wrong with that choice. I'd say it was a good one. It's just that Intel will not be the best option at every price point, especially low ones.
