Sorry for posting this as a separate topic, but there's just way too much to talk about to keep it all on the Custom PC Discussion thread. It's too hard to find everything.

So basically, I'm planning on building an ultimate PC gaming setup that will last me for a very long time. I eventually want to run on 3 monitors at a resolution of 7680x1440. The PC itself will have mostly gaming and some video recording/editing in mind. I'm also gonna want some decent speakers with a sub woofer.

Here is my build plan so far:

*Core*
Case: Cooler Master Storm Stryker
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K
CPU Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC14PE
Motherboard: Gigabyte G1 Sniper
RAM: Samsung 30nm 16GB (4x4GB) 1600Mhz
Graphics Cards: 2x EVGA GTX 690
PSU: Corsair AX1200
HDD: WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200RPM
SSD: Plextor M3 512GB

*Peripherals*
Monitors: 3x Yamakasi Catleap 27' 2560x1440
Keyboard: Ducky Shine
Mouse: Razer Deathadder
Speakers: Pioneer SP-BS21-LR
Subwoofer: Dayton Sub-800
Amp: Lepai LP-2020A+

I will probably get one monitor and one graphics card to start out, and buy the other graphics card and monitors when I get the cash. I may just get a 3570K instead of the 3770K, I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make in rendering times. Please give any advice you can. Thanks.

EDIT: Changed the case the the CM Storm Styker, since I like the design more and I won't need room for push/pull anymore. I've heard good things about Duckies, so I'll go with them. Changed SSD to 512GB, which I will probably need.

I do like the outside design of the Stryker better, but the Switch 810 has more features. I especially like that I can do a push-pull configuration if needed, and the fan that can be tilted to cool the video cards. Those Ducky keyboards seem to always be out of stock. I want to get as much space as possible on the SSD, since my current steam folder already takes up 220GB of space, but if that SSD is significantly better, I can swap them out.

EDIT: Thanks for the advice on the speakers. I don't know much about speakers.

About $5000 in all.

The 512GB Plextor M3 is an awesome value right now and it's one of the best drives out there. Otherwise, you could always get multiple SSDs. I put the Neutron GTX, Samsung 830, and many other drives above the Vertex 4 not because it's a bad drive, but because OCZ has a rightfully bad rep with these and I have not seen enough reason to believe they have changed. It's more a matter of firmware updates than anything.

The Ducky keyboards do come and go pretty often. If you want a backlit full size board, though, it's hard to recommend something else. There's a lot of good stuff in stock now.

I was gonna suggest the Noctua NH-D14, and just about everything r00t said. Maybe 680s in quad-SLI would be another option? Maybe single GPU cards in quad-SLI > two dual GPU cards in SLI?
Anyways, congrats on having enough money for a super badass build!

As far as I know, the 690s in quad-SLI (4 GPUs, not cards) actually performs better than quad 680s.

From what I've seen, the 680's are slightly better in quad SLI, but think of all the heat they would produce. I would probably even have to liquid cool them, making it more expensive and time consuming. I would rather have 2 cards than 4 anyways.

EDIT: There seems to be a limit of one 690 per customer for some reason. I guess I will just have to buy the other on Amazon.
