Is it possible to downgrade one of my ps3's to 3.55?
If so, could someone link me a tutorial or even better, write one?

you need a E3 FLASHER to downgrade ive already looked for one without a e3 flasher

E3 flasher is a physical item that has to be attached to your ps3 and cant be downloaded or copied its not a soft ware and it can be mailed to you. this is E3 flasher [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

would it be cheaper to just buy a 3.55?
then again, could i just get a patch data transfered to my ps3? would i still get the same benefits? such as changing the map online, hosting challenge lobbies & explosive bullets?

no this cost about $30-50 and yeah you could data transfer to your ps3 and still have full patch use like what you asked for.
