SureDzn wrote I will be looking to purchase two pairs of headphones. One over-ear, and one in-ear. The first one will be for over-ear.
Budget: $150 give or take
Music preferences: Hip-hop, rap
Type/form-factor: Over-ear
Open or closed: Closed
Listening from: Ipod Touch Computer
Details: I would like them to be portable, durable, and look nice.
Budget: $30
Music preferences: Rap Hip-hop
Type/form-factor: in-ear
Open or closed: Closed
Listening from: Ipod Touch
Details: durable please
Thanks for your help
Check out the V-Moda LP or LP2, depending on how much you're interested in spending for the first one.
For the second, Xeport 5010 all day errday.

What are your thoughts on the new Harman Kardon range of Headphones? I have Bose currently, and before you say anything, I love them for what they do. Money wasn't an issue, and I have them on a Treble and Bass setting on poweramp, which gives them a great sound (this is my opinion). I do agree, however that Bose is not the greatest for Home Cinema systems. I'd much rather go with a make such as B&W or Mordaunt-Short.

Budget: 200-400
Music preferences: EDM/dubstep, rap/hip hop, rock (classic not hardcore/screamo)
Type/form-factor: Over the ear
Open or closed: Closed
Listening from: Iphone 4 (will have the 5 eventually if that matters) and my laptop.it's a dell
Details: I have big ears, I don't mean I have pointing out elf ears or dumbo ears, I just have big ears in general because I am 6'11'', so i would like head phones that cover my ears. I tried on my friends beat studios and they got my whole ear after adjusting them (my ear lobe was between the cushion and my cheek bone, so that gives you an idea of size. ) other than that, I would like my headphones to have great bass for my EDM/dubstep, but also have good clean sound for a band like Led Zeppelin if you know what I mean. Like i dont need excessive bass while listening to Stairway to heaven. and i play basketball so in a way, make sure they are stylish
Thank you !
I have my eyes on beats just because everyone has them and I play basketball so they are fitting. But I wanted to hear it from the pro what headphones I should get, so i posted this

I want a pair of cans that have decent bass, but not so much that it turns out stuffy. I put closed as a main choice, but open would be fine if you have a great exception.
Thanks root.
Definitely check out the Audio Technica Pro 700 MkII. I usually let this article do all the explaining, but in short, these are bass cannons. I've heard these myself and can confirm this and and they don't muck up the rest of the sound at all!

They're about $180 on Amazon You can even get the 50th anniversary edition for a good price now, $200! Worth it if you ask me, the gold trim and different face looks awesome.

So I finally got around to actually buying these things. They arrived about a week ago and bass cannons is an understatement. They have the power to turn your face into jello. I even got the 50th anniversary edition which makes them great aesthetically.
Anyways thanks for the great suggestion.

The DT770pro from Beyerdynamic is pretty big even for me and I have a big head. They'll need an amp though. The sound is bassy. I'm assuming that you'll want to take them outside too so there's also the AKG K550, which is on the neutral side of things. The V-moda LP2 might be something you might like, but I haven't heard that one and only seen measurements so r00t will be a better person to ask about those. If you're an active person like your post suggests, the Studios are not for you. They do need to be babied, the Pro isn't that good for portability either, too heavy, which is rather ironic since the Pro is meant to be a DJ headphone.

They're pretty good. Right now I can't find a good review of them that's not a comparison between the two models, but for headphones like these you don't buy them for the sound quality alone, you buy them for the features and looks. Although they will have great sound, it just won't be quite as good as the other options in their class. We saw it with the B&W P5, which is an alright headphone, but just doesn't sound the greatest for the price. If you like them and the features, I can't fault you for getting them.

Some other cans I'd consider are the Pioneer HDJ2000, Sony ZX700 & Z1000, Audio Technica Pro 700 MkII, and Philips Citiscape Uptown. The Pro 700 is a bass cannon (as confirmed again by Icy's post, haha) but I liked them for other genres as well. I daresay they're your best bet here. They're Beats killers. VERY durable, removable cable, super bassy, portable with a folding design, and not overpriced. I think you'd be very happy with them and your friends would be very much unhappy with their Beats. I would swap the stock pads for Audio Technica M50 pads, though. Huge improvement.
