Takes about 3 years normally to get to Corporal, depending on your age etc.

I found it easier to get good feeback/impress NCO's etc, by smart uniform, and good attitude. Always look the NCO/Officer in the eyes, when they talk. Body language is essential too. I'm joining the Army, or should I say i've joined, and will be in within less than a year, and i've met the real people, and they are very strict.

Good Luck!

You have to do a lot more than just shoot a rifle, I used to be in Acf, Royal regiment of fusiliers, Warickshire West Midlands sector to be precise, Just wait till you get taken on your recruitment camp for your one star, even though it's cadets you better be fit and learn to like rations and long patrols.

You'll cover on your recruitment camp.

-First aid
-History of the ACF
-History of your Regiment
-Camouflage
-Fitness test
-Map reading

Some other things can't remember them all.

Also you can get to corporal quick, I Got mine in 1 and a half years of being ACF, just depends if you listen and do what they say, also take everything to note what they tell you.

Well ive covered First Aid, Camo&concealment, fieldwork, basic drill and went on a 24hr expedition. Also done a fitness test when on outreach, was 5 days pretty much solid but wasnt as regimented as the actual cadets, very lenient. The seniors there told me theres very little to do for 1* after, joined the 2nd Battalion NIR ACF btw.
Thanks for the advice btw :L
