On the whole, the experience i've had as a BT user (non-infinity) it has been one to forget,
we are going to get virgin media, up to 100mbps but im wondering if even 50mbps is even likely could someone state if they have virgin and how good it is?

Well I can tell you it definitely won't be the speed they advertise. More like 70mb/s...

i would switch to virgin media as the speed you get with them is unparalleled and no company does the same for the same price, very reliable has never been down for me and i have been on for 2 years

Speed should not really matter.
Reliability should matter the most of anything.
Currently I have AT&T DSL High Speed Internet.
8 Mbps Download speed.
512 Kbps Upload speed.
But I'm actually getting 5-6 Mbps Download and 250-300 Kbps Upload.
So like said above, don't go off advertise speeds because they are a tad bit off and they cannot guarantee you those speeds, especially if you have cable internet as you share your bandwidth with your neighbors who have the same ISP as you.
