I'm getting an iPhone 4 in a couple of days, and Ive got a couple questions.
First, the person I am getting it from has stated that it comes on 6.0
I want to unlock it so I can use it with straight talk, and also jailbreak (only untethered if its even available yet, I'm not sure)
The iPhone comes with a sim card in it, but I was wondering if I have to buy one from straight talk or can I use the one he provided to unlock it?
Anyone wanna link me to a tut? Also, if iOS doesn't have untethered jailbrakes and 5.1.1 des, is it possible to downgrade?

I think all Jailbreaks are tethered. I don't jailbreak my iOS devices. I don't think iPhones are compatible with straight talk.. I'm pretty sure that iPhones only work with the respective company that has contracts available for them. (AT&T, Verizon, ect.)
NOTE: I could be 100% wrong about using iPhones with straight talk. So don't quote me.
Iphones Sim Cards cannot be removed unless you take apart the phone, so, I'd assume if straight talk is compatible with iPhones, you'd have to buy a Simcard from them, and then take apart your phone and swap SIM cards.
To downgrade iOS firmwares, heres a link.

Hope I helped!

On topic: You don't unlock an iPhone with a SIM, you either ring up the original carrier of the phone (AT&T etc) and ask them to unlock it (May cost Money). Or you can jailbreak it with a special software (Non available on iOS 6 YET),
As for downgrading, you can set the phone into DFU mode (look it up) and Restore with any older version of iOS (Hold shift while clicking restore after you have downloaded it.) Although sometimes this won't work. The other way you need to have SSH blobs saved from a previous Jailbreak. (I wont go into this because the chances the previous owner had jailbroken it are slim)
tldr;
-Unlock by ringing up original carrier.
-No Jailbreak (YET)
