I am looking at getting a gaming laptop that will last me for quite some time. On this laptop I also want to do schoolwork and just surf the web. So far I've been looking at:
1. Asus g75vw
16 gb ram
Intel core i7 processor 2.3ghz I believe
Nvidia GeForce 660m gpu with 2 gb VRAM
17.3 in led 3d screen
750 gb 5400/7200rpm
Price: $1699
2. Alienware m17x
16 gb ram
3rd generation intel i7 3610qm processor turbo boost 2.0 up to 3.3 ghz
Nvidia GeForce 660m gpu 2gb VRAM
1tb raid 0
Price: $1799
If there are any other laptops that you'd recommend please do so
All comments are appreciated thank you

I've personally owned an Asus G73Jh gaming laptop. Yes, it was my first machine, bought in 2010 for $1,300. Today I would never recommend anything like it to anyone. A gaming laptop is 100% not worth it, at ALL. No upgrades except for your HDD and ram. They're way too expensive and have average battery lives of 2 hours.
Investing in a desktop is so much more cost efficient and better in every case. So please do so. We'll get you a build if you're ready to order.
