Not true at all, he couldn't "hack" but he could sure use your IP to social engineer xbox support into letting him recover your account. Also if he traces it then it would give him a rough idea of where you're from, then using any other information he could form a d-o-x on who you are and before you know it xbox will hand your account over to someone else.

(And yes I know it isnt d-o-x but the real word is filtered.)

Are you serious right now? Do you really think Xbox Live would give someones account away when they only have an IP? Not even f*cking close dude. Also the best thing he could do for an IP trace would be sites and downloadable programs he finds on Youtube. END RESULT IP is not that big of a deal as someone makes it

Obviously you're completly clueless about recovering other peoples xbox live accounts. Notice how I never used the word ONLY when I said about the IP, it can be used as proof, look at many eBooks about SE'ing xbox support to recover accounts.

The reason for this being is because most of them sh*t themselves when somebody gets their IP address, I mean think about it, I've had kids read off fake IPS to try and scare me then I've hopped on cain & abel and gotten theirs. Most of them don't even know HOW to get an IP without constantly looking at a Youtube tutorial. It's actually really effective sometimes. And it's funny as hell if they panic over it.
