KKC wrote Looking just good sounding headphones with good bass.

My budget is $5-$12.

Uhh...$5? The only things I can think of are the Philips SHE3580 and Monoprice 8320. You can't really get anything nice with that little money.

Since the Ultrasone Pro 900 is by far the best headphone I've ever heard (followed by my M50), they get that title by default.

Speaking of the PRO900, I did get to hear the HE400 the other day. Personally I think they're better than my PRO900. Although being open is a rather big disadvantage for me since I live in a noisy area. The signature is warm and slightly dark. Sounds great.

Ishcabible made me really want to hear a Hifiman headphone. I'm jelly.

Get one. ;) I'm really considering getting an HE400, but...I don't want to buy a dark headphone without hearing it first.

Oh, and got the Wang Buds today. They suck hardcore.

This is a double post but this deserves it. So in front of me I have a Sony SA5000, AKG K240 Sextett LP, AKG K240DF, and my Realistic Pro 50 (allegedly a Sextett clone; it's obviously not). My favorite sound sig is ironically the cheapest: The Sextett. If any of you find one of these for cheap, get one. I find them more enjoyable (DEFINITELY not technically as good or even comparable) than even the HE500. Sure, they're really grainy and lack detail and lots of other things, but for some reason they sound so right.

I actually followed the progress of that K1000 thread with great interest. Shame AKG probably would never make something as radical again. I'd save up for a K1000, but the lack of replacement parts scares me.

And I used to visit Wikiphonia way too often last year to hopefully find some uncommon stuff on eBay, but that never worked out. Well there was that one time with a Sony ECR-500, but other than that, nope.

I'd go for the Ultrasone HFI-580. Sounds perfect for you.

If color is the only thing that matters to you, this topic is not for you.

The Shure SE215 is $90 on Amazon right now, that's a whopping $10 less than I usually see it!

This isn't a headphone request but responding would be appreciated. Are the Sony MDR XB600 any good? I saw them on Amazon as my pair of XB500's broke.
