Hyperius is literally impossible to solo, I've downed him to 1/4 health, then he just goes all berzerk on your ass.
I recommend using a corrosive conference call, bee shield and the Maggie magnum.

1. Does he pop up in a story mission or do you actually need to go searching for him?
2. Does he drop any good loot?
3. What type of animal is he?

i completed the main storyline accepted all the missions and am coming back to hyperious later, awesome start to dlc with mecromancer and pirates booty
