so basically its my birthday coming up soon and im looking to upgrade the graphics card in my desktop as i still have the one i got with the computer in it, its a Nvidia Geforce GT 530, not that great i know and so im willing to spend around 100 and i'll be happy if it can run, all cods, battlefield 3, and minecraft at a decent FPS i will +rep anyone who helps + also a quick random question at the moment my computer runs through HDMI, is it worth buying a monitor for DVI? and if anyone could give me advice on that, that would be AWESOME

you can't play battle field 3 to well with that. my gtx 550 can handle bf3 on high not very well , that's a 200 $card,
for minecraft if you have over 4 gig's of ram should be awesome.
What cpu do you have ?

really? i can run bf3 on medium settings at around 60fps atm and my card is only around 60? which is around $90 and yea i have 4 gig ram, and im thinking of upgrading that to 8 soon and my cpu is a Intel core i7-2610 running at 3.40GHz

Well for a graphics card you want to look at how well they perform and I personally have an Radeon 6850 that cost me about 100 ($150) and compared to many graphics cards like the gtx 550 that ParadoX mentioned, the radeon comes out on top. Also I cannot say personally that it runs BF3, but from people I have asked when going to buy it and from my experience of playing PC games with it. It runs all games that I have on High settings with no lag.

As others have mentioned, the GTX 550 is pretty good. I've seen some people overclock the 550 Ti and get good FPS on Bf3 on high settings.

1, you are not going to run BF3 very well with that, but i can't really say anything because I personally built my computer, and i have 32gb of ram, and a Gforce 620s in mine, but you shouldn't get a dvi moniter, it is not really that much better. I have two LG moniters hooked up to my PC so you could say I have a good setup, but my computer gets so hot, that I have to install a liquid cooling system in my PC this summer or maybe sooner, but good luck to ya, and remember, whatever you buy now, will be obsolete in about 3 years or less, [at least that is my experience].
