a taxi driver charges $3.25 for the FIRST mile then $2.50 EACH MILE. How many miles will it be if the total was $9.50 PLEASE HELP !

9.50 = 2.50x + 3.25

x is the number of miles the taxi drives after the 1st mile

9.50 (-3.25) = 2.50x (-3.25)

6.25 = 2.50x

6.25/2.50 = 2.50x/2.50

2.5 = x

The number of miles the taxi drove after the first mile was 2 and a half.
Therefore, the taxi drove a total of 3 and a half miles.

3.5 miles 9.50-3.25= 6.25
2.50*2= 5.00
6.25-5.00= 1.25
1.25/2.50= 0.5

You guys are just hating because you can't figure it out.
I found it impossible, it has to have a 5 at the end, because he charged $3.25 in the beginning.
So idk, maybe you read it wrong or you didn't give us the full question..
