So my laptop that I use for school has finally died on me so it's off to the store to purchase a new one. I really don't know where to begin! I need this laptop for school since I take online classes but I also want it to be able to play games and stuff like that and not completely suck. Also the bigger the hard drive, the better. Same goes with the screen. I know some people say the bigger screens make them less portable but I would rather the display be a little bigger. Does anybody have any good suggestions on what would be a good laptop? Im asking because I have seen many people who's "really good" laptops turn out to be junk. Thanks!

Also forgot to mention that I don't want this laptop to overheat easy. My old one did it every 5 minutes if it was sitting on a flat surface, you had to balance the fan over the edge of the table and I really made me mad

Well, Playing games with any laptop will "overheat". Its just the mistake in a laptops portable build. I cant really recommend anything thats prebuilt because for what you want the laptop will be extremely overpriced.

Okay, well what would be the best one for a reasonable price then?

May i recommend the Dell range of laptops?

I have had many and never has one failed me! They have a full range so you could explore the options and look at the stats.

To overcome overheating problems you can get a USB fan that sits underneath your laptop and cools it, they are very effective and affordable and you can buy them from Ebay, Amazon etc.

OP, go with a good Thinkpad if you have the money for it. Quality laptops that definitely won't overheat. Portable and fantastic for schoolwork, let me know if you want a link. Most other laptops are of lower quality and aren't very customizable.

One of my favourite looking laptops money can buy - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

However, if you're looking for a more budget priced laptop, I'd go with [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

If you need cheaper still, then - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You can't really get good priced laptops, makes me feel sick looking at the prices... But anyway, they're the ones I'd go for. Asus are a brilliant make, super design, stylish and elegant and a brilliant build quality - pair that with a HD screen and B&O audio and you get an absolute monster of a laptop.

Lenvo - need I say more. They've been making computers since the 80's I think

EDIT: Whatever you do don't go with HP, I've stupidly bought 3 computers from them now, and every single one has failed just after the warranty has ended. My most recent is the 17.3 inch DV7. Was nice till it broke...

I bought an HP Pavillion G6 from Argos for 500 GBP. It has an i5 processor, 6GB of Ram and a 750GB HDD. I suggest one of those.

I've never once heard anything good about those laptops. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

They overheat very quick and just breakdown. HP=Heat Problem.

Seriously, don't get a HP.

I love mine! I have always had it on a cooling pad though!
