Definitely not. That's an absolutely criminal price for what's essentially a CX300. They're currently close to the bottom of the barrel in terms of sound actually. I'd pay like $15 for them, maybe. I dislike them more than the Skullcandy Titans. I actually have the highest end CX IEM (the yet-to-be-released CX985, thank you Sennheiser!), and I'm not the biggest fan of them. Sennheiser just isn't that great on the low end IEMs.

For your music, I'd actually go for the Monster Turbines here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] They aren't the clearest, but they have lots of bass if you like that.

Turbines? Argh I'd not recommend them. The build is terrible, ironically a cable company's IEM is weakest at its cable. SE215 should do.

Time to free up some cash and steal that nice Marantz reciever my dad never uses. The price seems right and from what you and other are saying, it looks like these will give me what I want. I'll keep an eye out for a pair and hopefully money will work out.

They usually go for about $70, which is pretty criminal, yet fantastic for us. Even out of my crappy EMU 0204 they're sublime. I'm going to try to find a way to buy these off the person that lent them to me. He has his SA5000s to keep him company; he should be fine. ;) But my next purchase is definitely an HD650, contrary to everything I've said before. I really want a dark headphone, and there's nothing that sounds like an HD650, and since they only seem to be getting more expensive, I might as well bite as soon as possible (so...Christmas).

Speaking of the HD650, I really need to hear a pair of those. Wonder how they compare to the HE400.

Check out the Citiscape Downtown. You might also look at the Sony XB500, but I can only imagine them wreaking havoc on voices in rap. It was also not specified what type you want, so... Not sure this is what you had in mind.

Turbines? Argh I'd not recommend them. The build is terrible, ironically a cable company's IEM is weakest at its cable. SE215 should do.

I think they've fixed the issues lately, but the Shure would be the better IEM. I forgot about those.

I've been torn between the HD650 and HE400. I decided that the supposed lotsa-treble with the HE400 wouldn't be what I'm looking for. I loved the HE500, and knowing how those sound, something with more treble is the opposite of what I'm looking for because I have enough trebly headphones already. I'm looking for something dark with nice mids.

I haven't heard them (I said supposed because I honestly don't know) but everything I'd read said they seem to be more treble-oriented than the dark HD650, which isn't what I want. I think I read a comparison between the HE500 (which I've heard) and HE400 and it said the HE400 has more treble, but I don't know for sure.
