What do you mean by a bunch of money?

I know a cheap capture card thats easy to use and great for starters (only thing is it only records in SD) and its only $10 or you can spend anywhere from 50-200 depended on where you buy I havn't bought one in ages so I don't really know how much Dazzle and stuff cost now.

Easycap

If you want to play on your TV and record on your PC all you need is two sets of AV cables and 2 AV splitters, with the Easycap, cables and splitters your looking at maybe $30 bucks. Cheap and great way to start and learn, with a easy program for recording and editing

I bought a Pinnacle 720 and it works great, everything you need to record is already in the box. However, it's $150.

Dazzle has some the best quality for standard definition (best option is to use an S-Video setup), but the Hauppage HD PVR is the best for HD recording.

For the record, Dazzle DVD Recorder = capture card.

I used Easycap and it was crystal clear for SD, I use to broadcast on justin.tv and it looked good plus it was $10
