In fairness, nothing has been confirmed. People can only speculate which generation of console it will be on.

My guess is that it will be on next gens, as they will be released towards the end of 2013 (ask Frank Gibeau), and GTA is game which will be around for 4+ years.

Unless they can find a way to make it on both generations of console, but I can't think of a sensible way to do it, not to mention the fact that the consoles could barely run the game due to huge map size and high detailed textures.

They could, but then you would have to do the same on the next gens, when you won't need to. Seems too impractical to me.

It's being developed for the Xbox : 360 as we speak.

The whole GTA V on next gens rumor was stupid enough as is. Not going to happen, watch it not happen, and once again it's not going to be on next gens. Not everyone would buy the new gen consoles just to play GTA V...less $ for R*. Will be on current gens, common sense.
