hi ttg i have 1 gb of ddr2 pc2 4200 in my pc and i want to upgrade to 4 gb of ram and i want to know if i can run pc2 5300 or pc2 6400 in my pc. will this make it slower? faster? will it even work? im kinda more of a software tech i know a little about hardware but can someone please help i dont want to buy the wrong type cuz ddr2 is expensive.

Really? DDR2 is expeensive? I thougght it was ddr3 that was expensive...
(Sorry for the typos, i'm on my sisters computer because I spilt coke on mine )

yes ddr2 is more expensive than ddr3 because ddr2 can have a higher bandwith wich means more speed for your pc

No, DDR3 is faster; DDR2 is more expensive because it is no longer being made.

Yeah, its not bandwidth either, its random access memory, so when tasks are running it can handle them, ddr3 handles them more effectively and the speed helps aswell (i.e 1333mhz and the newest 1600mhz) If youre still on ddr2 you should probably upgrade :p
