I just got an Inspiron 530 computer from my grandparents. I want to upgrade everything in it and make it as fast as possible but I have no idea how.

Here are its specs.

Processor- Intel Pentium dual-core processor E2140 (1MB L2, 1.60GHz,800 FSB)

RAM- 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz- 2DIMMs

Graphics Card- Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100

Hard Drive- 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBaurst Catch

Sound Card- Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

I don't really have a price range (anywhere from $50-$400) I just want to make this computer as fast as possible. I'm not sure if I need to upgrade the motherboard or if i could just upgrade the processor and everything else. I was also looking into getting a much nicer HD monitor but I was wondering if I would need to upgrade my Video Card to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and will receive rep.

Well, you might want a price range, that way people can suggest things in your range, unless you mean money is no object.

But if you want a i5 or something like that, you will need to upgrade your motherboard.

You need an LGA 1155 motherboard for i3, i5, and i7.

Will I have to buy a specific processor for this board or anything? Also what do you mean i3, i5, and i7?

I'm going to be honest here and tell you it's a waste of time. By the time you upgrade everything that is needed, it's going to be a brand new build. There is zero point throwing hundreds of dollars away to an outdated computer. It's as simple as that, OP.

You can build a brand new AMD APU build with an SSD that will not only be incredibly fast but be able to play some games at lower resolutions.

Intel core i3, i5, and i7 = socket LGA 1155 = requires a MOBO with that socket = H61/H77/P67/Z68/Z77/B75.

Okay Thanks. If I were to build a computer is there any nice mother boards you would recommend?

For a $400 budget, you're not really going to get anything nice. It's not a big deal since most ''higher end'' motherboards are a horrible buy since you're not going to use half the features unless you're overclocking on a test bench 24/7.
