Disc drives eventually burn out just as a lightbulb would. "Straining" is when the laser seems to go hyperactive, like you are describing, and make crazy, sudden and loud movements. The only thing I can think of that may fix it is cleaning the laser with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol very gently, it is a sensitive counterpart. Did you verify the iso before and after burn via abgx360?

Thanks for the info- but too late. i bought a new one. playing it again, but im not going to the same map

same thing happened to me.. went from multiplayer to campain then i started hearing clicking noises coming from my xbox so i just dashboarded it coz it went to black screen lol
