It may be a stupid question but why do they care if we have a jtag or not. If my understanding of it is right it lets you run unsigned code which should work out in their favor because more people will learn how to code games/patches which in the end will probably end up with them being some sort of programmer and making them money.

Your logic doesn't work. Stop trying to justify something that is obviously wrong. Not saying that Jtags are wrong, I just accept that Microsoft doesn't allow them.
