I would go straight with the HD PVR. You will probably be wasting your money either way, I have a HD PVR and I haven't used it in ages.

I'm not wanting to do it, to get 'noticed' I've wanted to do it for a bit now and my jobs (both temping and Acting) aren't exactly full-time unless you get good gigs so I've got the time when it comes to doing it and I find it fun.

personally id recommend the ElGato they are so small and easy to use basically the HD roxio

I found a Roxio for less than 50 which was the only reason I was gonna get it lol.
