I've heard of people getting xp banned for a couple of days for changing there timezone.

Changing your timezone only fixes it for a few games, the XP cap is reset at 5am EST (I've hit it 6 or 7 times, I should know) You should NOT try any ways to bypass the cap with glitches, as you will get banned.
