HOTD is far from "the best thing ever".
Also, everyone who actually posts in this thread has probably already seen it, it really isn't that good.

HOTD was alright but i agree far from the best. The best being in the ranks of Clannad After Story and Steins;Gate (In my opinion)
i would have to give it a 7/10 mainly because of the ending and overall presentation of the anime. There was no emotional parts and i did not feel any connection with the characters

Agree with this. HOTD was...entertaining to say the least, but you really didn't CARE what happened to the characters. I enjoyed it definitely, but it'll never come close to (using your example) Steins;Gate or FMAB etc. HOTD had potential to add more emotional or slowed down parts (ex Rei and Takashi) but they didn't. The best thing I can say about HOTD is it's not a half bad entry drug to anime. I got 3 of my friends into all anime by starting them on either that or Angel Beats

HOTD was pretty entertaining to watch but as you said, you just feel no connection to the characters. Without that connection, the show loses so much appeal. AnoHana was great for attaching to the characters and many mainly tears were had at the end. If you guys/gals havent watched it, you should.

Just stumbled upon AnoHana recently actually, but haven't started watching it yet. Have been busy with Accel World, Mushishi, and Bakemonogatari

Accel World and Mushishi are both on my list of things to watch. I have had Accel World downloaded for about a month just have so much more things I am watching. Bakemonogatari was great, remember to watch Nisemonogatari after, it is just as good but with more fanservice.
