So this Christmas I'm getting a laptop, and I have been looking for a laptop with a good price/performance ratio. My MAX price is $800, but it would be better for something a little cheaper than that
A little info on what the laptop will be used for:
-Online Gaming (Games such as TF2, Borderlands 2, Black Ops 2, Diablo 3, and Minecraft)
-Schoolwork (High School Student)
-Web Browsing
-Rendering, Editing, Saving, and Uploading Videos To Youtube
I want to be able to play some of these games at High Settings while still receiving good Frames per Second, especially TF2
So far from the research I've done, the optimal laptop I think is the Dell Inspiron 15r Special Edition.
If anyone could tell me if it's a good, reliable laptop that would be great
I am by no means a Computer Guru and for the most part know nothing of computers, so if you guys could help me that would be awesome.
If you guys know of a different laptop that would be good for the things stated above, feel free to reply and tell me about them.
One more thing, I know that a Desktop is a better and cheaper for the performance, but it has to be a LAPTOP. I need to take it to school, friends houses, and travel with it wherever.
Thanks for any help

Dont buy a laptop for gaming. If you wanted one to play the games you listed it would probably cost over 800 anyway. Just build a desktop PC instead. So much cheaper and better

Don't buy one. I guarantee that you will be thinking twice after you buy a "gaming laptop".
For one, if you play longer than half an hour they get insanely hot. Like touching the bottom of a hot frying pan.
For two, you will get so much more out of a Well built custom pc, then you will with a pre-built gaming laptop.
Now I saw you said that you have no idea how to build one.
I was in the same exact spot, once every single one of my parts arrived and I was able to start building the computer, I just looked up tutorials on YouTube.
The tutorial I looked up was one from NeweggTV. There is about a hour and half long tutorial video (split into three parts). The first video is showing the parts, the second part is building the computer itself, and the third part is installing a Operating System. (The one he used in the video was Windows 7 Home Premium.)
But that video made it super simple. Trust me, if you order all of the parts, and watch a tutorial video, it's like riding a bike.

DON'TThey are a waste of your money. My $800 desktop rig is the same as a $4000 alienware. You'll have better luck gaming on a desktop, they're faster, cheaper, and more capable. gaming laptops are just a power hog. They last about 2 hours max running on battery. Buy a desktop

I bought a laptop from Best buy for $730 It runs minecraft on max settings and I play Starcraft 2 on it at medium settings for 120 FPS which is very good for the price range. As to what the other guy said I have played on this laptop for multiple hours at the time and haven't even really felt heat on my lap at all. *I couldn't find the exact model of my laptop but this is it except for the graphics card on the one i posted is slightly less powerful than mine

I've decided to go with building a custom PC. DO you guys think that I would be able to do it myself, or should I call like Geek Squad or someone to make sure that everything is right?
