The 3220 can keep up with most i5's and even some i7's... not sure what you're talking about.

You could go with a Fractal Core 1000 if you want a smaller profile.

EDIT: Not gaming, but you're looking at a 7770? Nah, ditch it for a solid-state drive use the Intel IGP. You could step the processor up to the i5-3470 or 3450 without changing anything else as well. Of course it's a better investment as more expensive hardware tends to last longer if you buy the right stuff. People saying the i5 or i7 would be a better long-term investment are stating the obvious.

It's pretty obvious you have no clue what you're saying so just stop before you hurt yourself.... the i7 is not a necessary upgrade and certainly not with a $500 budget. The i3-3220 and 7770 will certainly perform well under most conditions, especially when he's not even gaming on this build.

You don't know what your talking about, if i3's are outdated so are i5's and i7's as seen as they are all in the same product range, Which is "Intel Core"
