SasukeUzamaki wrote Nothing will happen at all, all the planets have lined up before in the 70s and nothing happened, its just the planets orbits lined up coincidentally (it was going to happen sometime) and 2000 was also predicted to be the end of the world and obviously this didn't happen. What will happen is mass prayer sessions, possible suicides, looting and rioting. it is just another excuse to start the London Riots again etc.

If you mean line-up with the Milky Way, (No one has metioned planets lineing up) then you're a complete idiot, to put it bluntly. In the 70s? The Milky Way lines up directly in the centre of the Milky Way every 26,000 years.

It makes no sense the world would end soon, there are no sings if it ending. I know people will always shove nonsense into it. Like OMG the skies are turning a different colour or something like that.

First of all, if the world did end, you wouldnt even know that it ended.

Second, think about how logical the 2012 theory is, it doesnt make sence, nor is it possible. If it would have happened, it would already have happened, they didnt calculate leap year in.
This long-count calendar isn't a calendar as much as a counting system. You know how we use a base-10 counting system? (10, 100, 1000, 10,000 etc.) The Mayans used a modifed base-20 counting system for keeping track of days - the second cycle went up to 18 rather than 20. So they tracked days in cycles of 20, 360, 7200, 144000, 2880000, etc.

We're coming to the end of one of the 144,000 day cycles. The concept of leap-years is irrelevant to this calendar system, because it's not based on solar years, simply on pure math. The Mayan calendar does not need a leap year. The slight inaccuracy of the Gregorian calendar is the reason for a leap. There is no "February" in the Mayan Calendar.

Leap years wouldn't make the Mayans wrong. Let me try to explain this one last time.. Let's say you could predict the future and you predict that you will eat pizza on Friday and it's just Monday. Then lets say a day gets randomly removed from our calenders. That day being removed wouldn't effect your prediction as long as you eat pizza on Friday.

My point is it doesn't matter what happened in between the Mayans prediction and now. They set a date knowing something would happen. I'm starting to think people are just saying that as a way of making their own fears be gone. It's one of the only things I'm seeing now.
