TTG_Velocity wrote It's completely fake. As a veteran game developer (8+ years), I can honestly and truthfully say its fake and will never happen within 100 years. It is just a Voxel based engine that has cubes that are reduced down to a grain of sand. However this causes huge issues with storage and performance. Lets assume a modest island height of just eight meters, and we end up with 0.008 km^3. At 64 atoms per cubic millimeter , that is a total of 512 000 000 000 000 000 atoms. If each voxel is made up of one byte of data, that is a total of 512 petabytes of information, or about 170 000 three-terrabyte harddrives full of information. In reality, you will need way more than just one byte of data per voxel to do colors and lighting, and the island is probably way taller than just eight meters, so that estimate is very optimistic. And the fact of the matter is, they are trying to proclaim that their invention is new and unique when it's been attempted time and time before. And another issue with this type of engine is animation. There is no set algorithm to smoothly transition atoms across the world. Atoms would fall out of their normal places and end up with atoms floating around. Don't get too excited with this, it's no where near our time frame.

Well I guess both of us hope your wrong.
they have said in interviews that its real and to just give them a chance.
so while I am not getting my hopes up, I am giving them a chance.

You could at least quote Notch on this, pfft.
