i do everything as directed to put it in dfu mode but apprently its not in dfu mode. i have no idea what im doing wrong

You, jailbroke it right? If so, there really isn't anything you can do. What version iPod are you on?

Mine wouldn't do it either, so i left it for a day, come back to it and tried it and it worked.

You need to have itunes open when getting it into dfu mode
press and hold the sleep and home button at the same time
after 10 seconds release the sleep button and continue to hold the home button

If you have already done the DFU procedure, and cannot get it to go into DFU mode, then let it run out of battery. Once it is completely dead, then plug it in to charge it, so that it comes back on. Then you will be able to put it into DFU mode. Works everytime

it died today at school and i came home and tried it again but it didnt wrok, i go into redc snow put in the ipsw and then click jailbreak then it says put into dfu mode, so i do what it says to do to put into dfu mode and then my phone stays at a black screen and red snow says "device is not in dfu mode"
