Why does this guy have an American Holiday named after him?
Do people even realize how sadistic this man was?
He was a psychopathic killer.
He didn't even 'discover America'. It was discovered 500 years before he even set sail.
Columbus was involved in the slave trade of 9 and 10 year old girls.
Some of his soldiers have written accounts of him having over 3000 people slaughtered on one day.
Some of his own men committed suicide because they couldn't deal with serving under him and his sadistic regime.
Why the **** is this man celebrated?
It's no different than Germany having a praise Hitler day and EVERYONE joins in.
What the ****?

People look up to a man who chopped peoples hands off and hung them if they didn't bring him enough gold for the day?

Kind of like people speaking highly of the founding fathers of the U.S. because they spoke of independence and equality, but they were slave owners and took the land from Native Americans.

I've always wondered this.
It really is the Catholic churches 'fault', if you will.
They lobbied the Government and forced them to make his birth a Holiday.
You know Columbus was actually arrested by Spain but the King and Queen loved the amount of Gold he was bringing them so he was pardoned. Despicable.

By the way, you should try having this moved to the conspiracy forum.
It would make a nice, I use the term loosely, topic for discussion.

At the time owning a slave was no different than owning an iPhone today, it was a common thing. Yeah it was wrong but it was part of that lifestyle. And everyone took land from the native americans, not just them.

I agree 100% with you. Columbus was a drunkard who discovered America by accident, out of his own stupidity. He died thinking he was in some part of asia

If a man takes makes another man a slave but speaks of equality and independence, they are a hypocrite no matter the way of life or time period. You can't fight for equality if you don't show equality. The white man did way more damage to the Native Americans than anyone. I wish schools would teach kids about our founding fathers owning slaves. It seems like an important lesson to learn. I never heard about it until after I graduated.

So what you're implying is that every great, and renown man shouldn't have ever made a mistake in his life? Columbus discovered America for the Europeans, and that's why he's celebrated, not because you believe anything you hear via Wikipedia.
