You're doing quite well - however, you can export the text with a transparent background, as a png, open it in photoshop and continue to work on it. You shouldn't save your final images as a jpeg, rather a png for the best quality.
How to export your 3D text as a png:
1). Open your C4D project
2). Select the Render Settings button: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
3). Select the "Save" tab
4). Bubble in "Alpha Channel"
5). Select the "Format" drop-down menu, and select png as your file type
6). Select the "File" tab save file button, select your desired location and select "Save"
7). Select the Picture Viewer button: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
8). Allow your image to render out, once completed it will be in the storage location you latterly selected
You have many possibilities with Cinema 4D, it's certainly something you have to play around with. Tutorials are helpful, but step out of your comfort zone. I would recommend finding some pre-created materials, or create your own material(s).
How to create your own material(s) in C4D:
1). Select the "Materials" tab located beside your Content Browser
2). Double click in the tab located below the navigation and material tab
3). A preset material should appear, double click on that material
4). Select your desired color(s) for the material
5). Drag and drop the material on the active layer under the objects tab or under perspective view
How to apply texture(s) to your material:
1). Open your material by double clicking on it
2). Select the "Color" tab
3). Beside the "Texture" tab will be a box so that you can browse for your desired texture(s)
4). Browse for your texture(s) and select and open them, your material will now have a texture applied
5). You may also make your material semi-transparent by bubbling in the box beside the "Alpha" tab
6). Open that tab and repeat the latterly stated directions to load a texture on to your material
Tips/tricks for a nice clean look:
1). Disable specular by un-bubbling it
2). Once your material is applied to your text, select it: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
3). Under the tag tab you'll see a tab titled "Projection" and it will be set to default UVW Mapping, change that to Cubic
4). While following the steps under number 3, also be sure to bubble in "Seamless"
Have a good one - if you need any more help feel free to PM me,

@Below: That's a negative, Ghostrider. This was not copied from anywhere except the notepad I wrote it in as I was making this post, the screenshots & text are both mine.

Copy the text and paste it into Google if you don't believe me.
