first off nuketown is in nevada and tranzit is in california

second of all, tranzit takes place after nuketown.

supported by hearing marlton in the bunker, zombie eyes are orange up until round 25 when richtofen takes over.

when you lose on nuketown the nuke hits...then the tranzit group emerges from the bunker and takes the bus to tranzit (i think)

this doesnt mean they arent connected though...time travel is possible in this game if you recall the story

Maybe when you hear that is when Tranzit actually starts since its in the past to Nuketown
