This is not some opinionated rant of mine, but it instead logic and genetic fact that Humanity is becoming dumber as a species.

Just to clear something up, I will be using the terms 'dumb' and 'stupid' as an easy way of recognizing what I mean, not as an insult to... whoever would admit they are dumb.

Hunter gatherers would need to use their intelligence in order to survive, we know now that intelligence comes to you through genes [more common sense rather than knowing complex things].

So, as the dumber hunter gatherers died, the more intelligent ones would mate and produce more intelligent offspring.

However, in today's civilized world, we lack the challenges that would weed out the stupid and allow the intelligent to breed.
It's 'easy' to stay alive.

So, more dumb people are breeding passing on dumb genes which ends up in the production of more dumb offspring.

Crabtree wrote, "I would be willing to wager that if an average citizen of Athens of 1000 BC were to appear suddenly among us, he or she would be among the brightest and most intellectually alive of our colleagues and companions."

What do you guys think?

It's because of how we developed into a world.

Think about it machines do a lot of things for us...

For example...

Instead of long dividing 400/ 49 People will just use a calculator on their smartphone and will get the answer... Hell I've even done that, after I long divided to make sure my answer was correct

You sir make a good point. For example some rich people can even afford to get by with having little to nothing of an education.

Makes sense in theory but we really can't do much about it. It's not like we can just go around and neuter everyone carrying dumb genes.

although in the game Mass Effect there was an alien race called the Protheans and they did just that, they only let the strongest and smarted thrive, the 'dumb' ones were killed off. They also believed evolution was the most powerful force in the universe. Infact they called it the cosmic imperative.

~ I know way too much about that video game...

Another factor is to stimulate the child early on, you can in turn have a smart child from two 'imbeciles'.

not really that "we are getting dumber" it is rather the fact that society has changed humans into lazy pieces of sh*t.

if you think about it, some of the most active and brilliant people are alive today, but a major population percentage couldn't care less and just expects everything to be given to us. if we were to be rid of all technology as of now, we would be a brilliant society and the lazy assholes would be killed off.

What you say is true, but consider this: say a physically weak man was a complete academic genius. If he was to attempt to survive on his own, he would likely fail. He requires support, but he is still astonishingly intelligent. Your point is half valid, but it only stands when talking about people who are completely rounded. People differ though. They are intelligent in different aspects to each other.
