Not the best picture to try and edit lol. But it was my first try at this. The eye is a bit too dark of a red. But eh, it still looks okay to me.

It looks cool but the big mistake you made was was picking a picture that shows 90% face and 10% eye. Look for a picture that shows mostly eye with some nice iris fibers showing like in this photo:

Well, I'm only going to speak the truth. No hate intended.
But that is pretty horrid. Looks like a 3rd grader coloring book, and the little kid couldn't color inside the lines.

Just dreadful. How can you get it to look so messy.

Either lasso the iris and change the hue or paint the iris and change blend mode to colour.

Done.
